Hi, I’m Stephen!
I’ve been gaming for as long as I can remember. Over the years I’ve seen games evolve from simple, offline fun into the complex, always-online worlds kids spend so much time in today.
A mix of computer programming and volunteering led me to start running online gaming events for kids - safe, structured, and parent-approved spaces where I saw firsthand how gaming is shaping kids’ lives.
At the same time, I noticed something: parents were left out. They wanted to be involved, but felt overwhelmed, unsure where to start, and worried about everything from screen time to online safety. When I looked for resources to recommend… there weren’t any that gave parents both understanding and practical steps.
So, I started speaking to parent groups, answering their questions, and breaking down the gaming world in plain language. Those conversations became the foundation for Checkpoint - a resource built to bridge the gap between parents and their gaming kids.
Checkpoint combines my years of gaming experience, real-world insights from kids, and the struggles parents have shared with me, into a clear and actionable guide. It’s designed for parents with zero gaming background, giving you the tools to understand, engage, and confidently guide your child in their digital world.
